We read the room.
Then we own it.
Sugar & Sound is a full-service DJ company with 25+ years and 1,500+ events behind us: corporate, school, weddings, backyards and block parties located in San Francisco, the Peninsula, Wine Country, the Central Coast, Lake Tahoe, and everywhere in between. Sweet on the mic. Serious behind the decks.
Pick your party
Five very different rooms. One crew that knows the difference.
A middle-school rally and a Napa reception are not the same job, and we do not treat them the same. Every event type below gets its own planning process, its own playlist rules, and its own version of us.
Marketing events, holiday parties & brand activations
Product launches, all-hands, conference after-parties and the December party people actually stay at.

Play the mixes →Why planners rehire us
Fun on the floor. Boring in the best way behind the scenes.
Anyone can play a song. We are hired for everything that happens around the song: the timeline, the mic, the load-in, the moment your boss decides to say a few words, or that you want your favorite aunt to do an impromptu speech.
We read the room
We watch the floor, not the laptop. If a set is not landing, it changes before you notice it was not landing.
We are early
Load-in, sound check and a full run of the timeline before the first guest gets their first drink.
We sound expensive
Professional audio system, wireless mics that do not cut out, and a subwoofer that we can turn up.
We do the paperwork
Contracts, insurance, COIs for your venue, W-9s for your AP team, and a vendor who answers email.
How booking works
Four steps, no mystery, no hard sell.
You will know the price, the plan and the person showing up long before the day arrives.
Start with your date- 1. Check the date. Send it over. We reply within one business day with a yes and a real quote.
- 2. Lock it in. Simple contract, deposit, and the date is yours.
- 3. Build the night. A planning call plus a shared timeline and song list you can edit until the week of.
- 4. Show up and enjoy it. We load in early, sound check quietly, and handle the room from there.
Where we play
Loaded in by 3pm. Anywhere from the ocean to the Sierra.
We are based in San Francisco and we tour our own backyard: the Peninsula, the East Bay, the South Bay, wine country, the coast, and up the hill to Tahoe and Reno. If your venue is new to us, we call them, we get the load-in rules, and we show up early anyway.
Tell us where it is- San Francisco & the Peninsula — hotels, lofts, rooftops, city halls, backyards in Burlingame.
- Oakland & the East Bay — warehouses, breweries, waterfront venues, school gyms.
- Santa Clara & San Jose — campus quads, convention halls, all-hands and after-parties.
- Napa, Sonoma & wine country — estate weddings and long, golden cocktail hours.
- Monterey, Carmel & Santa Cruz — coastal ceremonies and wind we plan around.
- Lake Tahoe & Reno — mountain weddings, offsites, and altitude-proof gear.
The mixes
Press play. Pretend you are already there.
Recorded sets from actual events, not a demo reel of drops. Filter by the kind of room you are planning and hear exactly how it would sound.

People book us twice. Then they tell their friends.
“They kept a room of 300 engineers dancing until the hotel turned the lights on. Our CEO has asked for them by name every year since.”
“Our ceremony ran twenty minutes late and I never felt it. The music kept me calm and kept our guests entertained before, during, and after our ceremony. I still get compliments about my cocktail hour and reception music to this day.”
“Every song clean, every transition tight, and our principal danced. Our PTA voted to rebook before the gym was even swept.”
FAQ
Questions we get a lot
How far in advance should we book?
Popular Saturdays in wine country and the fall corporate season get booked six to twelve months out. That said, we typically keep room for short-notice events so if your date is next month, still ask us.
Do you travel to Tahoe, Reno, Monterey and wine country?
Constantly. Travel inside the greater Bay Area is included; for Tahoe, Reno, Monterey and the far reaches of wine country we add a flat travel fee that is quoted up front, never as a surprise line item.
Are you insured, and can our venue get a certificate?
Yes and yes. We carry general liability and send a certificate of insurance naming your venue as additional insured, usually within a week of signing.
Can we pick the music?
Absolutely. Every client gets a shared song list with must-plays, maybes and a do-not-play list that we take seriously. Then we read the room and keep your guests engaged.
Let’s see if your date is open.
Tell us the date, the venue and the vibe. You will hear back within one business day with a real quote, not a brochure.
